Why I’m Stepping Away from Meta Horizons and the Metaverse
I want to take a moment to speak directly to my fans and supporters. As many of you know, I’ve spent a lot of time creating, exploring, and connecting with the amazing community inside Meta Horizons and across the Metaverse. It’s been a creative home for many of us — a place filled with imagination, collaboration, and friendships that went beyond the screen.
But today, I’m announcing that I’ll be stepping away from Meta Horizons and the wider Metaverse. My decision comes after hearing the disappointing news that Meta laid off many of its community guides, the very people who helped shape the heart of that world — and right before Thanksgiving and Christmas. That decision felt deeply wrong to me. These were the voices, the helpers, the people who made the experience human.
As someone who values creativity, compassion, and community, I can’t just look past something like that. While I’ll still check in from time to time to see what’s new, I will no longer be working or engaging there daily. My focus will return to my writing, storytelling, and building real creative spaces where people — not corporations — are at the center.
To everyone I met along the way, thank you. You made the Metaverse what it was meant to be. Let’s carry that spirit forward — together, beyond the digital walls.
